OUR MISSION STATEMENT

In response to the Great Commission, Compassion Canada exists as an advocate for children to release them from their spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enable them to become responsible and fulfilled Christian adults.

The following ministry principles guide Compassion's Christian and wholistic approach to child development. These guiding principles govern everything we do, both on the field and in our corporate offices.

We Have a Global Perspective

We believe that God is working around the world. We believe that there are gifted believers everywhere to serve in child development. That's why we are a global organization at all levels, in government, funding, programs and staffing. At all times, we behave with sensitivity to cross-cultural issues.

We Partner With Churches

God has ordained that the Church should carry out his ministry on earth. Compassion is committed to work in partnership with the local body of Christ. Together, we develop resources, equip people for ministry and mobilize them for effective service.

We Challenge the Worldwide Church

There are many children whose needs are beyond the resources of Compassion. We encourage, educate and challenge other Christian bodies to intensify and improve their ministries to children.

We Spur Supporting Partners on to Ministry

We help supporting partners become increasingly active on behalf of children. We recognize that their financial contributions are only one aspect of their overall ministry potential. We encourage supporting partners to take an active, developmental role toward children. We treat all support partners with integrity and respect.

We Have Integrity

Compassion sets high standards of integrity and excellence. We seek to improve continually quality and service. We seek to be open and transparent in all we do.

We Respect the Dignity of the Poor

Compassion believes all people have dignity, regardless of their socio-economic status. We express our respect by learning from all. We appreciate the wisdom and knowledge poor people willingly contribute to our ministry.

We Focus on Staff Development

Compassion places great value on its staff members worldwide. Our staff members diligently commit their lives to the ministry. We work with them to develop their gifts and abilities. As they develop, their contribution to the ministry increases. We are committed to be an organization that promotes learning.

We Cultivate Economic Health

We are committed to consistent, controlled growth to achieve greater, long-term impact in more children's lives. Controlled growth produces a healthy economic environment. We always operate within the resources God provides.

We Value the Role of the Family

Compassion respects the impact families have in children’s lives. We encourage and support each family to take an active part in their children’s development.
