Beyond Sponsorship

Most of us can’t imagine what it would be like live without the basic necessities of life. But, children living in abject poverty don’t have to imagine.

Compassion knows there are some issues that our Child Development Program alone cannot address. Issues like: clean water; healthcare and education for those living with HIV and AIDS; disaster relief; vocational training and microfinance loans; prenatal care; and so much more.

Compassion's Core Programs

To address these concerns, Compassion has developed the following programs:

  • Child Survival - providing care for mothers and children before birth through their earliest years
  • Child Development - children are provided the opportunity to be released from spiritual, economic, social, emotional and physical poverty.
  • Leadership Development - post-secondary education for students
  • Response Funds - assisting communities and individuals in times of need
  • Planned Giving - helping you leave a legacy gift to make the childhood of a children at risk a hope-filled one

These programs enhance and run in concert with our Child Development Program, and allow us to more completely minister to the needs of the individuals and communities in our care, from the womb through adulthood.

Compassion's Core Programs Transform Lives.

Compassion believes that poverty is best addressed through the transformation of the individual child. Compassion does not engage in community development as a stand alone program, nor does Compassion fund community development activities through the money received from the one-to-one Child Sponsorship Program.

However, to ensure that children receive the best possible opportunity to break the cycle of poverty, Compassion seeks to address all the obstacles that can hinder and impede the healthy development of children and their opportunity to reach their full potential. Many of these barriers stem from such factors as the unsanitary conditions of a child’s home and community environment, occurrences of natural disasters or widespread health epidemics, or issues that directly affect an individual child’s family and home life.
