The Water SCH2OOL
The Water SCH2OOL, in Uganda in east central Africa, is perfecting a methodology of sustainable water purification that combines health education with training in the use of the Solar Water Disinfection System or SODIS. The SODIS system works 35 degrees either side of the equator. The same area of the world where the majority of people suffer and die from water borne diseases. The Water SCH2OOL is addressing this desperate situation by expanding this program to the rest of Uganda, Africa and other parts of the world. These areas have experienced up to an 80% reduction in water borne diseases.

sustainable development in developing countries in
order to reduce poverty and to contribute to a more

Development is a complex, long-term process that involves all
of the world's people, governments and organizations at all
levels. Working with partners in the private and public sectors
in Canada and in developing countries, and with international
organizations and agencies, CIDA supports foreign aid projects
in more than 100 of the poorest countries of the world. The
objective: to work with developing countries and countries
in transition to develop the tools to eventually meet their
own needs.
Compassion Canada
partners with the Canadian International Development
Agency on specific community development projects through CIDA’s
Canadian Partnership Branch, within the Voluntary Sector
Division. Currently, we have one active partnership. It involves an
AIDS education program in Western Kenya entitled Community Leaders Educated AIDS Response – CLEAR-Phase III. In a matching grant, for each dollar raised by Compassion Canada the Canadian Government matches it with two dollars.
