Complementary Interventions
Complementary Interventions Go Beyond Sponsorship.
Compassion’s Beyond Sponsorship community project initiatives house several of our Complementary Intervention Programs (CIV). Such community programs provide essential activities which enhance, improve and complement our CDSP, CSP and LDP programs, which cannot be met by sponsorship funds alone, such as: access to clean water and proper sanitation, disaster relief, emergency medical care and more!
What are Complementary Interventions?
Compassion’s Beyond Sponsorship Complementary Intervention Programs tackles some of these additional concerns and provides activities and interventions which enhance, improve and complement our core programs. Some of the Complementary Interventions supported by Compassion include:
- Locally operated: indigenous peoples own and implement the projects. Compassion Canada provides funding, expertise, accountability, monitoring and evaluation. Our role is to empower the local church in holistic ministry.
- Sustainable: We support only projects that lead people to recognize their strengths, take control of their resources and work together to meet their needs.
- Fostering independence: To minimize the risk of dependency, we fund projects with low capital costs and high volunteer involvement. Project participants set the goals they want to reach to make the most of the help they receive.
- Focusing on women and children: We pay particular attention to the needs of women. We find that women always share what they learn with their families, thus speeding up the pace of change in their community.
Complementary Interventions help communities become self-sustaining.
We believe in help communities become self-sustaining. Compassion’s Complementary Intervention Programs are not covered by sponsored children's monthly support. Funds are raised separately through donations from people like you to help communities find solutions to the challenges they face and improve their quality of life.
The following Complementary Intervention Programs community projects are worthy avenues to contribute to the welfare of children worldwide. If God calls you to give beyond your sponsorship, please donate to one of these Complementary Intervention Programs or to a special gift fund.
