Suggested language for sharing: Did you know that globally, one in five kids aren’t in school? This can lead to all kinds of risks, especially for girls: child marriage, human trafficking, continuing or increased poverty. What’s more, because of the pandemic, millions of kids are falling behind. Eleven million girls are at risk of dropping out of school all together.

But we can respond. Give to Compassion’s education initiative.

Video #1: From orphaned to overcoming

Suggested language for sharing: I love seeing the creative ways that Compassion centres around the world equip kids and youth to support themselves in the future. At this Compassion centre in Tanzania, they are teaching youth to make shoes, accessories and guitars!

Vocational training is such an effective way to help release children from poverty. You can provide education for kids in poverty through Compassion.

Video #2: La Pasteleria

Suggested language for sharing: “I thought I was stuck.” This is a common sentiment of kids and teens in this community in Guatemala, where many do not even finish elementary school. But Compassion’s local church partner is working to change that through vocational training programs like this bakery program, that equips youth with a skill for their futures. And some of the profits from the bakery are used to give academic scholarships to students!

Vocational training is an important part of Compassion Canada’s education initiatives. You can make a difference today.

Video #3: Standing against sexism

Suggested language for sharing: Though many in their community think carpentry is a man’s profession, these girls in Guatemala are showing their neighbours that they can learn carpentry, too! It’s a skill that sets them up well for a future free from poverty.

Around the world, youth are able to access vocational training thanks to Compassion. This Christmas, will you join me in providing education to kids and youth in poverty? Give to Compassion’s Education initiatives.
