Why does it take so long for my letter to get to my sponsored child?

Last Updated: October 23, 2018 6:55 pm

One of the challenges of working in underdeveloped communities is communication. Many of the Compassion Child Development Centres are in remote locations with unreliable mail systems or internet access. We have developed—and recently improved—a correspondence system to ensure letters move as fast as possible between children and their sponsors. When you send a letter, by mail or online, it comes to the Compassion Canada office, which we send digitally to the Country Office. From there, Compassion staff translate, print and deliver the letters (and photos) to your child. From the time we receive your letter, it takes about four to six weeks to get into your sponsored child’s hands, which is an incredible achievement considering it used to take three months!

We appreciate your patience as you wait to receive letters. Letters are an important part of sponsorship, and we are committed to continuously improving this process.
