Mukeshimana’s husband used to earn $19 a month at a restaurant. $10 of that went to rent—and the remaining $9 was all they had to live on the rest of the month. They only ate once a day, and usually went to bed hungry.

But through Compassion, Mukeshimana learned tailoring and received a sewing machine. Now she runs a small business at her home making and selling clothes. Mukeshi- mana’s family eats three meals a day and no longer lives in constant fear of where their next meal will come from.
