Shimul’s family in Bangladesh received a cow from Compassion. Since then, the children have been able to drink milk almost every day! The cow gives birth to a calf once a year. The first year, the family sold the calf and used the proceeds to rent a field to grow rice. “We don’t need to buy rice for an entire year,” says Shimul’s mom.

Shimul’s mom uses the cow dung to make and sell fuel sticks—and with her earnings, she can afford to send her children to school. She’s also been able to buy chickens to further provide for her family.
