Oil from Peru’s main oil pipeline leaked into water sources near Chiriaco village in northern Peru last week. The oil is affecting fishing and farming, and residents have been advised not to consume fish from the river for up to six months. Compassion staff have visited children who live near the river and plan to support these families with food as needed. Pray the oil is cleaned up quickly and that there are no long-term effects for nearby villages.
