Good news. In a world where headlines often weigh heavy with despair and negativity, it’s easy to miss the extraordinary stories of hope and healing happening all around us. But what if, instead of more heartache, we found a steady stream of stories of lives being rebuilt, of communities transforming and of hope breaking through?

Here’s the truth: Compassion is on the move. And right now, you can see its unmistakable impact. So, if you’re searching for signs of hope, here are seven undeniable ways compassion is transforming lives—breaking the cycle of poverty, one child, one family, one community at a time.

1. Generosity

Two boys sit on either side of their mother. They are all smiling and wearing blue.

Pierre (left) sits with his mother and older brother, Donatien.

“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.” — 2 Corinthians 9:11

Generosity isn’t just about money. It’s about giving of yourself—whether it’s resources, time or love. For children around the world who face hunger, lack of education or medical care, even the smallest act of generosity can open the door to a brighter future. And that’s a clear sign of compassion in action.

Good news! Pierre received life-saving medical care because his brother Donatien was part of the Compassion centre. One act of generosity can create a ripple effect that saves lives.

2. Joy

Wendy (left) glows with joy and health.

“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” — Psalm 126:3

Poverty can steal childhood joy, but compassion returns it. When children are seen, valued and loved, joy floods their lives once again. That’s the kind of transformation compassion brings—turning hardship into laughter and play.

Good news! When Wendy was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, her mother feared for her future. But thanks to the support of her Compassion centre, Wendy is learning to manage her condition with confidence—and she’s back to skipping, playing and singing at church with joy.

3. Full stomachs

A boy holds his arms up and smiles. There is a table of fruit and vegetables in front of him.

Because Deiker has nutritious food to eat, his dreams have grown big.

“He has filled the hungry with good things.” — Luke 1:53a

Hunger isn’t just physical. It’s a barrier to a child’s future. When children don’t know where their next meal is coming from, their dreams are put on hold. But when compassion steps in, children have the nutrition they need to grow, learn and dream big.

Good news! Deiker used to wake up wondering if he’d have enough food for the day. Now, he enjoys hearty, nutritious meals at his Compassion centre, fueling his dreams for a better future.

4. Stability

A man sits at a sowing machine while a woman bends over the table and smiles.

Jacqueline and her husband smile in the tailoring business they started.

“He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.” — Isaiah 33:6

Instability can leave children feeling adrift. When a child’s life is marked by crisis, displacement or broken systems, they lack the foundation needed to thrive. But when compassion moves, stability follows—giving children the solid ground they need to build their futures.

Good news! When landslides destroyed Jacqueline’s home while she was pregnant, she thought her future was lost. But Compassion’s Survival program didn’t just offer prenatal care—it helped her rebuild her life, offering training in tailoring and emotional support for a fresh start.

5. A hope and a future

A group of young children walk in front of a teacher.

These children in Malawi have bright futures because of education.

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.’” — Jeremiah 29:11

Poverty tells children they have no future. But compassion tells them otherwise. It opens doors to hope, showing children that there is always a way forward, no matter how impossible it seems.

Good news! In Malawi, a Compassion centre is giving little ones a strong start through preschool activities, ensuring they’re ready to learn and thrive. With play, songs and early lessons, these children are building the foundation for a brighter future—one filled with hope and opportunity. Because when a child is equipped for school, the door to possibility opens wide.

6. God at work in lives

A father and son stand together and look at a Bible.

Martinus found faith because of his son.

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 1:6

Compassion isn’t just about human effort—it’s about God at work, transforming lives. Through His people and Christ-centred organizations, God is calling us to be present in the lives of the vulnerable—through that presence, His work is carried out.

Good news! Once trapped in a life of crime, Martinus thought he had no way out—until his son joined Compassion’s program. Through his child’s faith and the love of the Compassion centre, Martinus found a second chance. Now, his entire family is experiencing the power of compassion in action.

7. The opportunity to do good

A group of children stand in a makeshift shelter together and smile.

“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” — Galatians 6:10

The need is great, but the opportunity to do good is even greater. Compassion doesn’t just open our eyes to the poverty around us—it moves us to act, to be part of the solution.

Good news! You are part of these stories of lives being transformed around the world. Children like Pierre, Wendy and Deiker are thriving because people like you chose to move with compassion. Every act of compassion writes a new story of hope!
