Children’s ministry launch
The local church in Leklebi Agbesia, Ghana, has a deep desire to reach out to their community with the transforming gospel of Christ and respond to some of the most pressing needs of children. Real and lasting change happens when children are developed to become the adults who will create change in their community. In Compassion’s program, children learn they are loved, develop hope for their future and realize that God wants to use them to help others. Help children build a new future free from poverty and full of promise!

How will your money help?
For children living in extreme poverty, everything about COVID-19 is magnified: the risk, the fear, the uncertainty, the life-and-death realities. But together, we will rise as one to protect the world's most vulnerable and provide desperately needed food, housing stability and hygiene supplies.

Where does the money go?
No less than 80 per cent of your donation will be used for program activities and a maximum of 20 per cent for fundraising and administration. If we exceed our funding goal for the initiative shown, the remaining funds will be used to fund other programs where the need is greatest.
*Your gifts will be delivered through local churches around the world by staff members in the field who know the immediate needs of each child registered with Compassion, as well as their families and communities.

Compassion is a missions organization that exists in response to the great commission by being Christ-centered, child-focused and church-driven in all our efforts to see every child thrive in their God-given potential and to be released from poverty in Jesus’ name. Why? Because we love God and love our neighbors in Jesus' name and in Jesus' way. Every child matters to God, and to reach every child it will take every person who has chosen to follow Jesus in seeing lasting transformation in every life involved because we know that transformed people transform the world. Today Compassion is caring for over 2 million kids in 27 countries by mobilizing the global church in partnering with over 8,000 frontline church partners in low-income communities where children are known, loved and protected. As we emerge from the pandemic, there are close to half a million children in the communities where we work who are on the waiting list for a Compassion sponsor. The need is great. Poverty is an enormous and complicated problem, in our increasingly complex world. More than ever, we need intentional, sustainable and holistic responses to poverty. If only you knew your decision to sponsor a child or donate is the beginning of a beautiful story of transformation. Will you join God on mission in making disciples of all nations?
Frequently asked questions
Sponsorship gives children living in extreme poverty personal attention, guidance and love through the support of a local church. It gives children access to health care, hygiene training and supplementary food. It provides formal and non-formal opportunities for education to discover their unique gifts and abilities. And it also gives kids the opportunity to hear about Jesus as they grow physically, emotionally, relationally and spiritually.
The need for Sponsorship is greater, now more than ever. While children in some countries are not coming to the development centre or church building where they normally receive program due to COVID-19, the church is going to them.
Our staff members and volunteers in each country visit children at home, when possible, deliver food and hygiene kits and check in with children on social media. They also deliver Bible lessons and counselling over mobile devices and even broadcast radio messages into communities.
By staying connected in these ways, we can understand the specific needs of your sponsored child and his or her family too.
Compassion works exclusively with local churches because they know the names and faces of the children in their community and can best understand and respond to their challenges. They are known and trusted by their neighbours and are able to reach those in the greatest need with compassion and through the love of God.
We equip our local church partners with the resources, training and expertise to help children escape poverty. Each church is empowered to implement the program in a way that meets the specific needs of the children they serve. In this way the physical, spiritual, emotional and relational needs for children are met as they are empowered to overcome poverty in all its forms.
Financial integrity matters to us. We take your trust seriously and are committed to faithfully stewarding the funds you give. No less than 80 per cent of funds raised will be used for program activities and no more than 20 per cent will be used for fundraising and administration. You can give with confidence knowing that every dollar is used to maximize impact on behalf of children living in poverty. You can learn more about our finances at compassion.ca/finances.
We know how important it is for you to stay informed about the impact of your generosity. Compassion provides churches, businesses and donors with comprehensive reports that outline how funds were used and include photos and quotes directly from program beneficiaries.
Compassion Canada issues charitable tax receipts annually in February in the name of the donating individual or business.
