Compassion Canada is pleased to welcome two new executives to our executive leadership team: Jerry Sen and Kevin Cawthra.
Jerry Sen joins Compassion Canada in the role of Chief Marketing and Digital Officer (CMO)
Jerry is a transformative digital and brand marketing leader who brings first-hand experience, honed expertise and an impressive legacy of results in digital transformation, integrated advertising, brand building, project management, and team and culture building.
Jerry has led at some of the largest and most well-known companies in North America, including Google, Pepsi, Maple Leaf Foods, Smucker’s and DoubleClick. His wins have been published by the Globe and Mail Report on Business and Strategy Magazine. His innovative campaigns have also won CASSIES Awards, recognizing the impact of his team’s creativity on business results.
After feeling called by God to leave the marketplace for ministry in 2018, Jerry served as the Directional Leader of Digital and Outreach at OneChurch.to, the church he has called home for over 35 years. As part of the church’s Executive Leadership Team, Jerry oversaw digital, local and global outreach, including an annual goal of reaching 1 million people in Toronto through digital channels. He is the founder and architect of the LoveArmy, which strives to be “unignorably good” to the city of Toronto by doing 100,000 acts of goodness over 5 years.
Jerry holds a Bachelor’s degree in Administrative Studies with an Honours in Marketing from York University. He and his wife, Olga, live in Markham, Ontario and have three girls and one boy.
“I am excited about what God is doing at Compassion Canada and what He is stirring up for the future,” Jerry says. “I can see how His work in my life has led me here to serve and I look forward to starting this journey!”
Kevin Cawthra joins Compassion Canada in the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Kevin has over 17 years of senior leadership experience in the not-for-profit and charity sectors. Throughout his finance and operations career, Kevin has overseen finance and accounting, risk and assurance, internal legal and trademarking, products and data, information technology, human resources, communications, strategic planning and forecasting, and board governance.
Kevin started his career as Senior Auditor and Assurance at Ernst & Young, leading and working with audit teams from the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. He felt called by God early in his career to use his gifts and skills for Kingdom purposes and made the intentional choice to move from the marketplace to ministry. Since then, Kevin has led as the Vice President of Finance and Operations at Ambrose University, and then as the Vice President of Business and Communications at Gideons Canada, now ShareWord Global.
Kevin is passionate about serving in his church and community. He has served on the boards of Cambridge Christian School Society (as Board Chair) and Rockyview Alliance Church in Calgary and as a Youth for Christ volunteer.
Kevin holds a Certificate from Canadian Bible College, a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Diploma in Accounting from Wilfrid Laurier University, and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA). He and his wife, Helen, live in Cambridge, Ontario, and have 3 boys.
“I love what Compassion is all about as a Christ-centred and holistic ministry,” Kevin says. “I’m excited to join and serve the ministry in the ways God has given me. I can’t wait to do this mission with you all!”
We are thankful that God has led these two faithful leaders to Compassion’s ministry. We invite you to join us in prayer for Kevin and Jerry as they take on their new leadership roles and begin to work alongside our dynamic staff teams to further the mission of releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name.
