February 13, London, ON – Compassion Canada is proud to announce its 60th anniversary, marking six decades of real impact and unwavering dedication to holistic child development. Incorporated on February 26, 1964, Compassion Canada has grown as part of a global movement serving 2.3 million children and youth in 29 countries worldwide.

Over the last 60 years, Compassion has witnessed the transformative power of compassion firsthand while carrying out its mission to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. It has fed the hungry, sheltered the vulnerable, provided life-shaping education, and delivered life-saving healthcare. Compassion has uplifted families, transformed communities, and brought the love and good news of Jesus to life in tangible ways for children living in poverty.

“As I reflect on a legacy of 60 years of impact, what is top of mind for me is the word connection,” says Allison Alley, President and CEO of Compassion Canada. “Each day, we get a front-row seat to see Compassion supporters and partners in Canada connect deeply with our mission.”

As Compassion Canada celebrates this milestone, it looks forward to continuing its mission with renewed vigour, gratitude and commitment. With over 93,000 supporters and partners in Canada and 102,000 children sponsored by Canadians, Compassion Canada is poised to create even more impact in the years to come.

“It brings me great joy to congratulate Compassion Canada on 60 years of faithful ministry—the first Covenant Partner outside of the United States,” says Santiago “Jimmy” Mellado, President and CEO, Compassion International. “So it is with deep appreciation that we look back on these past six decades of tireless effort to connect children in need with life-changing help and the eternal hope of Jesus.”
