What are my donation method options?

March 19, 2013 10:49 am

Donations can be made by pre-authorized withdrawal (bank account or credit card), internet banking, telephone banking, Interac online, cheque or money order. These withdrawals can be made monthly or annually. Pre-authorized donations are safe, easy and convenient. Pre-authorized withdrawal from your bank account is our preferred method of payment, as it saves Compassion hundreds of thousands of dollars each year in transaction fees. Automatic withdrawals can be setup through our website by completing the Update Your Information form or by calling our office. Cheques made out to Compassion Canada will be accepted, as will money orders. Unfortunately deposits can not be made directly into Compassion’s bank account.

Yes, we can make this happen for you. We would need the contact information for the friend or family member so that we can give them the picture and profile of the child they are starting to sponsor. If the friend or family member was willing, we could still have the letters from the sponsored child come to you and you could continue to write to this child. Please contact our office by phone or by email so that we can make this change for you.

Compassion has a fund that covers the benefits that a child receives through their sponsorship. If a sponsor misses a payment, the child’s development is not affected. If a sponsor misses two consecutive payments, they will receive a reminder letter. Another will be sent out after three consecutive missed payments. After four missed payments, sponsors will receive a call inquiring about their ability to continue their sponsorship. During this time, our fund covers the necessary program expenses, but we cannot cover a sponsorship indefinitely.

You can also setup an automatic withdrawal (banking or credit card) recurring quarterly, semi-annually or annually. Please contact our office for more information or to setup any of these options.

Our preference would be if each individual would send in a cheque or give a one time credit card donation for the amount that they will be covering of the sponsorship. This is the best way to then ensure that we are able to send out an income tax receipt in the correct amount to each person with the least amount of administration on either end.
